PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY:

I was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. During my adolescents and teen years, I traveled back and forth from Arkansas to Colorado. I appreciate the fact that I was able to experience both cultures growing up. During my younger days I was very active and loved softball, dance, gymnastics and many other sports. My older sister Crystal was a cheerleader and a great gymnast and it was so inspiring to watch her compete. Since a very early age I desired to compete.

During High School I participated in track and softball, but social activities took over and my athletic career was briefly put on hold. I graduated from Evergreen High School and attended San Juan College in Farmington, NM.  I had my daughter, Autumn shortly after my time at San Juan College. We moved back to Colorado where I worked as a pre-school teacher for several years. Through this period of my life I wanted to get into better shape and I consistently worked out at home, watching the legendary “Abs & Buns of Steel” VHS with Tammy Lee Webb. My other source of training was “Getting Fit” with Denise Austin on Lifetime. Oh and my 3 lb D.B set…he-he.

Reading magazines and seeing other women in shape brought out my competitive side. I  kept leaning towards doing a figure competition. So I researched as much as I could and sought out some of the top women athletes in my area, Carol Semple, IFBB Pro & Ms. Olympia Fitness, Carla Sanchez, IFBB Pro and Liane Siewald, IFBB Pro, to help my quest. These woman all had an impact on me where I built a base, which helped me grow from there. I entered my first figure shows in 2002, The Northern Colorado and a few months later the Colorado State placing 3rd at both shows.

A year later with the help from my parents Bob & Cathy I opened a tanning salon and small personal training gym. Also I obtained my certificate through the ISSA as a certified Fitness Instructor. During this period I decided to attempt my first fitness competition. This time I prevailed and actually won both the figure and fitness in my respected division at the 2003 Northern Colorado. Later that year I would attempt to climb the ladder by entering the Team Universe Figure Championship. The goal was to receive a pro status. I would find out that I needed to be resilient and focused. I did not make the top 15 but did enjoy the experience.

This defeat was hard to take and I decided to take a step back from competing. I also took on a full time career in Logistics Sales that would have me working 60-70 hours per week.  During this time I met my coach Allen Watkins. He was a bodybuilder, wrestler and competed in MMA events.  I was introduced to many people in the health industry and other athletic forums. After a trip to the 2005 USA’s to watch friends, IFBB Heather Armbrust, Dylan Armbrust, Rick Sosias and Phil Heath, compete I would be introduced to IFBB Pro George Farah. George spoke to me about my competitive background and future goals. After that weekend, I returned to Colorado with a new fire for competing. With the help of George and Allen I would once again step back onto the stage.

In November of 2005 I entered the Carol Semple, Rocky Mountain Championship and would win my class in figure.  Thereafter with my coaches encouragement I entered the 2006 Jr. Nationals, in Chicago. This is where I earned my pro status, by winning the figure “ A Class” – A dream of mine was fulfilled that day and I will always be thankful for the journey. I have remained in the IFBB in a fortunate upward motion. I also recently began playing Pro Football for the Denver Dream Lingerie Football League. It’s so exciting and surreal to be apart of two amazing sports. I spend even more time focusing on my daughter’s life, as she grows and seeks out her dreams!

Oh, did I mention, I battle with the Worlds best Figure Athletes on the greatest stage, the I.F.B.B. Not bad for a 5’, 103LB girl! At the end of the day when all this passes no one will remember how many titles I may hold but what I truly wish is for people to see that kindness goes farther than any title. I never thought any of this would be possible but when you put yourself around positive people and never give up you will be amazed at what you can achieve!

Best Wishes Always,
Heather Mae French
